Our Towns: Bonsai industry blossoms in E China's Rugao City

Bonsai, a shining pearl of Chinese landscape art, has a recorded history in the country spanning over 1,300 years. In Xiazhuang Community, located in the Rugao High-Tech Industrial Development Zone of Jiangsu Province, bonsai is not just an unattainable art form reserved for the elite. Instead, it’s a popular aesthetic practice embraced by all residents, as well as an industry that drives local economic revitalization. Thirteen years ago, bonsai craftsman Kang Chuanjian arrived here, holding a passion for bonsai and began weaving his dream of prosperity.
