This year marks the 90th anniversary of the Long March, the epic military campaign that shaped modern Chinese history. In 1934, the Central Red Army departed from the Central Soviet Area centered in Ruijin, East China's Jiangxi Province, to embark on that legendary journey. As 2026 also marks the 70th anniversary of China-Africa diplomatic relations, which began in 1956, African military officers studying at the People's Liberation Army National Defense University recently gathered in Ruijin for a study tour. People's Daily reporter Li Zhuoman sat down with them to explore how the enduring Long March Spirit continues to bring China and Africa closer together.
