[The International Style Of Wuhan]Sven: picture city blueprint with magic pen

　　"Wuhan is a big city. It is full of energy, beautiful scenery and cultural attractions." Sven van Oosten (Ou Sifeng being his Chinese name), a Dutch architectural designer working in Wuhan Planning and Design Institute, described Wuhan, capital of central China’s Hubei Province in December, 2013.

　　Tall, blonde curly hair and shy smile, Sven looks like a boy next door to people around him. But when talking about architectural designing, Sven presents much of his confidence. As a graduate from one of the top prestigious universities in designing, he continued to obtain his master degree in city planning. He once provided professional advices to Dutch government with special research and countermeasures on transportation and he was also the supervisor of a landscape design company in Rotterdam. With all his experiences in city planning and design, he became a professional in his field today.

　　"I was attached to China when I was still a student." Sven said. He went to lots of Chinese cities and the rapid development of China presented lots of opportunities to him. Sven finally came to Wuhan under the recommendation of Bert Smolders, a Dutch consultant for Wuhan Planning and Design Institute in October, 2013.

　　Sven considered him lucky for this opportunity. "Wuhan is a city of rapid development. There are lots of chances to improve my professional skills." He said. He would also like to put knowledge into practices, bring advanced experience in city designing from Netherlands to Wuhan.

　　By far, Sven is participating in modification project concerning one of the major roads in Wuhan. He said:  "I like to be involved in these public projects. Hope my reasonable advices will contribute to a city of featured with low-carbon, energy-conservative and sustainable-development."

　　Sven had learned much more about Wuhan with times living and working here. He said: "Wuhan is experiencing a golden decade of economic boost. Taking good advantages of precious opportunities while preserving the original historical styles and features of the city is the primary work I do." He believed that a one of the ways to make a city impressive is to preserve its characteristics.

　　Sven also paid attention to Wuhan 2049 long-term development strategic planning, a significant project bought up by Wuhan Planning and Design Institute recently. In the document, Wuhan will conduct the strictest protocol on environment control featured with beautiful lakes and green lawn.

　　Sven said: "It is a wonderful planning. Designing makes life better. I value these chances and I hope to bring much more excellent blueprints to Wuhan."
